Let me, of course, start out with an introduction.
My name is Otilia (Oh-tea-leah). I was born in Bucharest Romania, and at the age of 4 moved to Paris with my family. Shortly after we moved to Canada. Like many, my view of the world has been influenced by my parents; two of the most driven, successful, loving, and empowering people. Their drive for a better life has been the source of my ambition and growing success.
I came to Canada speaking only french, and of course that didn’t help me make many friends. It taught me at an early age the importance of communication, and how easily it builds reputation and character. Of course there was the obvious language barrier, but I discovered that communicating is much more than just language. I remember trying to make friends, offering someone a cookie and a simple smile made all the difference in the world in making a new friend.
From an early age I’ve had an interest in traveling and seeing the world. After graduating university I decided to travel to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia – with several cities in between. I am fascinated by different cultures, especially religion, food and language! I’ve also traveled all around Europe, well ‘backpacking through Europe’, this means staying in hostels with up to 12 people, living off coffee and cereal. It was wonderful.
Which leads to the purpose of this blog. I want to communicate my thoughts , ideas, but more so to document my professional progression and insights. I think it’s important to commit to something that keeps you on track with your career path. I want to always remember the 26-year-old girl who is passionate, ambitious and driven to be successful. My passion may very well change, as does many people’s, but what a wonderful way to see how far you’ve come. Simply put – I’d like to share my story.
